Embed Code Options

In the CSUMB 2024 - General Content - Full Width and CSUMB 2024 - General Content with Navigation  content types, users can insert either:

  • Embed Code for Instagram (the blockquote code generated by Instagram), or

  • Embed Video Code from YouTube or Vimeo (the iframe code).

Both types of embed code are always placed at the start of the main body. When adding either option, a Code Position must also be selected (left/right/center). The embed will then display at the beginning of the main body content for that item.

'Embed Code' Element

Steps to Generate Instagram Embed Code (iframe-like embed)

  1. Go to the Instagram post you want to embed (must be public).

  2. Click the three dots (…) menu on the top-right of the post.

  3. Select “Embed” from the dropdown.

  4. In the pop-up, you’ll see an embed code (by default, it’s a <blockquote> plus a <script>).

  5. (Optional) Uncheck “Include caption” if you don’t want the caption displayed.

  6. Copy the code and paste it into the Embed Code element.

  7. When the page loads, Instagram’s script automatically renders the embedded post (like an iframe).

YouTube – Steps to Generate Embed Code

  1. Go to the video on YouTube you want to embed.

  2. Click on “Share” (under the video, next to thumbs up/down).

  3. In the pop-up, select “Embed”.

  4. A box will appear with HTML <iframe> code.

  5. Copy the iframe code and paste it into the Embed Video Code element

 

Vimeo – Steps to Generate Embed Code

  1. Open the video on Vimeo.

  2. Click the “Share” button (usually a paper-plane icon).

  3. In the pop-up, go to the “Embed” section.

  4. You’ll see an iframe code similar to: <iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/VIDEO_ID?h=HASHCODE" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" allowfullscreen></iframe>

  5. Copy the iframe code and paste it into the Embed Video Code element.

<iframe> Content examples added directly within the TinyMCE field

Alternatively, video content in an iframe from YouTube and Vimeo can be added to a TinyMCE area. From the toolbar select Tools >  Source Code, paste in the code for the iframe and click save. Next, highlight the iframe in the editor by dragging using your mouse and from the editor toolbar and select 1 of the 3 embed align options from Formats > Custom Formats > embed-align-left/right/center.
