By making an outright gift of cash, your gift will have an immediate impact at CSU Monterey Bay, and you will receive a charitable tax deduction for the year of the gift. You may also consider extending your generosity with a long-term pledge that allows you to claim deductions each year you make a pledge payment and enables CSUMB to fund long-term or future projects.

With careful planning, your generosity can bring you tax incentives and other benefits, such as income for life, which may enable you to make a greater impact CSU Monterey Bay than you may have previously envisioned.

An email should be sent by either the Donor or their financial advisor to Scott Machado at smachado@csumb.edu with the details of the transfer.

Include the following information:

1. Donor’s name and contact information
2. Name of security
3. Number of units/shares
4. Date of transfer
5. Designation

Please note that the transfer of shares in a mutual fund may require additional paperwork between the Donor, mutual fund company, and Foundation of Cal State Monterey Bay. As such, the Donor should initiate these transfers with sufficient time to allow for the completion of the required steps.
