Sustainable Events

Working with event organizers to incorporate sustainable practices through all phases of their planning.

Student planting a tree

There are many ways for you to integrate sustainable practices when planning your event at Cal State Monterey Bay.

Sustainable Events Blueprint

The Sustainable Events Blueprint offers the guidance on how you can incorporate sustainability into your event in three easy steps.

Following the completion of these steps you’ll receive a sustainability score for your event.

Step 1. Review the Sustainable Events Blueprint (below). The Blueprint includes the checklist question and provides resources. Reviewing these in advance with the team planning the event will help you identify steps to take to ensure your event is sustainable and inclusive.

Step 2. Complete the Sustainability Pre-Event Checklist (SEB-C) to get your Event Sustainability Score.

Step 3. Review your score and integrate it into the messaging and communication of your event.

What is Your Event Sustainability Score?

Answer some questions about your event and receive your Event Sustainability Score, based on our Event Sustainability Scoring System:

  • Bronze – 5-9 points
  • Silver – 10-15 points
  • Gold – 16-24 points
  • Platinum – 25+ points

Campus Deliveries

We offer directions and guidance for those organizing deliveries to be made on the CSUMB campus.

Floral and Plant Deliveries

Floral and plant deliveries to campus are welcome; however, we strongly encourage sending potted plants instead of cut flowers. Plants are a more sustainable option and provide lasting enjoyment beyond the initial delivery.

Please note that balloons, glitter and confetti are not permitted on campus and should not accompany any deliveries. Thank you for helping us maintain a clean and environmentally responsible community.

Student Deliveries – Residence Halls and North Quad

Ensure the student's first and last name are included, along with the building name and room number, and cell phone number are written on the envelope sent with the floral/plant delivery.

Students will be notified of the delivery and are responsible for picking it up. Delivery to individual buildings and/or rooms is not provided.

It is recommended that retailers call the Student Housing Residential Life Front Desk at (831) 582-3378 before attempting a delivery. Once confirmed, floral/plant deliveries should be brought to:

Student Housing Residential Life
Redwood Hall, Building 12
3116 Intergarrison Road

Student Deliveries – Promontory

For deliveries for students residing in Promontory, ensure the student's first and last name are included, along with the building name and apartment number, and cell phone number are written on the envelop sent with the floral/plant delivery. Floral/plant deliveries for Promontory should be delivered directly to:

400 8th Street
Marina, CA 93933
