Office of Research

Connecting researchers with resources to turn ideas into action.

Cal State Monterey Bay has contributed important research advances to agriculture, education, environmental science, marine science, computing and other fields. And you can be part of it.

As a Carnegie-classified research university, CSUMB’s faculty has a vast range of scholarly and creative interests — and they often integrate their endeavors into the classroom and community.

Graduate students also have an opportunity to serve as research assistants — or pursue projects of their own — under the mentorship of a faculty expert.

In addition to deepening your knowledge of a specific topic, the benefits of graduate-level research include:

  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Presentations at academic or industry conferences
  • Preparation for Ph.D. programs or research fellowships
