Empowering People and Purpose

University Corporation (UCorp) at Monterey Bay is a nonprofit auxiliary organization dedicated to advancing the mission of Cal State Monterey Bay. Established to serve the evolving needs of the campus and surrounding community, UCorp is a fully integrated partner in the university’s academic, operational, and strategic efforts.

Though legally separate as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, UCorp operates in full alignment with CSU policies. It plays a key role in supporting student success, faculty research, and institutional growth while maintaining a culture rooted in openness, trust, and integrity.

UCorp is self-supporting and does not receive direct state funding.

Making Great Work Possible

UCorp delivers essential services and infrastructure that power the CSUMB experience, from managing externally funded research to operating the university’s housing and campus enterprises.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Sponsored Programs (Grants and Contracts): Post-award support, fiscal administration, and compliance oversight for research and grant-funded projects
  • Fund Development: Financial stewardship and reporting services for university-affiliated fundraising and philanthropic initiatives
  • Housing Operations: Management of student residences on Main Campus, North Quad, and Frederick Park, as well as faculty and staff housing at Schoonover Park
  • Campus Enterprises: Oversight of dining services, the university bookstore, and CSUMB’s conference and event operations

These services allow the university to focus on its core educational mission while UCorp ensures the infrastructure, support, and flexibility needed for innovation and growth.

The University Corporation at Monterey Bay is a nonprofit auxiliary organization of the California State University system. It operates in accordance with the California Education Code (§89000 et seq.) and CSU administrative regulations, as outlined in Title 5 of the California Code of Regulations.
