Non-Student

For reporting purposes, we bill third parties and auxiliary entities through billing requests. For reporting purposes, we bill the Chancellor's Office, and other CSU campuses, using IFT requests.

Billing requests are requests from departments to send an invoice to a non-student customer, with the expectation of payment. These requests can be initiated through adobe workflows. The goal of the adobe workflow is to document: requestor department ID, chartstring for the revenue line, customer name, customer address and an executed contract stating performance obligations and transaction price of performance obligations. Non-student customers have two categories, related party and third party billing. Related parties are the Chancellor's Office, other CSU campuses and Auxiliary support entities. CSUMB has three Auxiliary support entities: Otter Student Union, Foundation of CSUMB and University Corporation of CSUMB.

W-9 Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification - Best practice for collecting W9s is to collect a W9 from the supplier before the first payment is made. Since we are the supplier for customers, we should always have a W9 ready for any potential customers.
