Student Resources

The CSUMB College of Health Sciences and Human Services at Cal State Monterey Bay is committed to student success.

CHSHS students have access to a variety of university-wide resources, such as academic support services, wellness resources and more. Within the college, we also have a few specific programs and offerings to help our students thrive academically and socially.

Scholarships and Grants

Cal State Monterey Bay offers a wide range of scholarship opportunities for students of all majors. Among them are awards aimed specifically at students studying health sciences and social services.

We’re particularly proud to offer the Louis Siebenmorgan Scholarship, which was created and funded by our own faculty member, Dr. Jim Raines. This award is geared toward students who were foster children or children of first-generation immigrants.

CHSHS Student Senator

The Cal State Monterey Bay Associated Students Senate contributes to the overall campus experience. This organization includes one representative from each college.

Our 2025-2026 Senator: Gerson Orellana Prudencios

Gerson Orellana Prudencios, a social work major with a minor in business management, is the 2025-2026 senator from the College of Health Sciences and Human Services. Here’s a message from Gerson to our community:

Student Senator AY25/26 - Gerson Orellana Prudencio

“I am honored to be your senator for the academic year of 2025-2026. My initiatives involve working with Associated Students and collaborating with key campus leadership to advocate for students. I serve on multiple committees that ensure transparency and support for all students.

“My passion for community has encompassed multiple experiences, which have led me to my current position: Advocacy, Diversity and Outreach Coordinator at El Centro and Hospice of the Central Coast, as well as a hospice volunteer. I am also a Lobby Corps member and College Corps social media coordinator.

“As your senator, I am committed to providing students with meaningful experiences within the college, serving as your advocate, ensuring accessibility, and transparency. If you have any comments, questions, concerns, or would like to discuss any aspect of your academic experience as a student, I am here to help, whether it's professional or personal development.

“Once again, I am honored and confident that together we can make a difference for our students and the broader community. Please reach out to me with this email: aschshs@csumb.edu.”
