Message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Health Sciences and Human Services (CHSHS) at Cal State Monterey Bay!

It is an incredible honor to serve as dean of a college that is deeply committed to community well-being, educational excellence, and social impact.

At CHSHS, we prepare students to become bold, compassionate and knowledgeable professionals equipped to tackle the health and human service inequities facing our region and beyond. As the quality of life, disease prevention and culturally resonant care become central to the future of health care and human services, our programs empower students with the tools to implement on the frontline; we ensure our students leave with effective strategies that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Our college offers a range of impactful majors that lead to high-demand careers, whether you’re interested in nursing, social work, public health, kinesiology, collaborative health and human services, or emerging areas of interdisciplinary care. Our graduates are change agents, advocates and problem-solvers who serve their communities with integrity and innovation.

Our programs share a commitment to student success, academic excellence and community engagement, which positions our students for a strong future. I invite you to explore our programs and discover the opportunities that await you at CHSHS. Whether you are a prospective student, current Otter, alumni or community partner, we are excited to partner with you in advancing health and human services in the places we live, work and play.

Warmly,
Phillip Post, Dean
