Music Facilities and Equipment

Music students have access to a range of recital halls, recording studios, workstations and instruments.
Among our facilities and equipment:
- Recital hall with movable seats and a Steinway D concert grand piano
- 2 state-of-the-art recording studios
- 2 MIDI labs
- Modern piano lab
- 32-seat computer lab equipped with music load sets
- Practice rooms
Our music instrument inventory includes:
- A variety of string and wind instruments
- A collection of guitars
- An impressive array of percussion
- Electric pianos and synthesizers
- 3 Steinway grand pianos
- 4 Boston pianos
We also have a rare and unique collection of jazz ensemble arrangements received through collaborations with the Monterey Jazz Festival and the Smithsonian Jazz Oral History Library.
Visual and Public Art Spaces

Our collection of buildings, known as the “VPA Complex,” are home to a variety of galleries, display spaces, workshops and classrooms. Among them, you will find:
- 2 darkrooms
- Film processing area
- Digital lab
- Fabrika silkscreen printing lab
- Welding/fabrication workshop
- Woodworking shop
- Ceramics studio
A variety of visual arts classrooms serve as hands-on learning spaces for drawing, painting, mixed media and color theory.
Campus and Community Spaces

Many of these learning and performance spaces are shared by programs across campus, and open to the public for a variety of performances and exhibitions throughout the year. These venues and facilities include:
- The World Theater - a 400-seat performing arts venue that doubles as a learning lab for students
- The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences Art Gallery - a multipurpose space that hosts senior shows, installations from visiting artists and more
- RND Amphitheater - a lush, outdoor space ideal for creative reflection
