Hands-on Learning Opportunities

Sociology, social sciences and global studies students participate in life-changing experiences close to home and around the world.

Global Studies

Students in all three of our majors learn by doing, from gaining a global perspective through international travel to volunteering with organizations right here in the Monterey Bay region.

Many of these real-world learning opportunities are also open to students minoring in social sciences, sociology or global studies.

Study Abroad

Through strong international program partnerships, our students travel to 20+ countries, from Sweden and South Africa to Iceland and India. These summer or semester-long experiences broaden worldviews.

Capstone Projects

Explore a topic or issue you’re passionate about. You’ll design your own research project with guidance from a faculty mentor and present your work to the campus community at the end of the year.
