CSUMB Final Assessment Week Schedule

Fall and Spring Final Assessment week will be Monday – Friday.

Face to Face classes and Online Synchronous classes will meet in their regularly scheduled classroom (Synchronous will meet online) at their normal start time (must start on the hour of the class start time), for 1 hour and 50 minutes in the assigned Final Assessment slot below. To find the Final Assessment Time for any course, look for the time block in the table below within which the class starts. If not listed below, the Final Assessment is during the first class meeting day at the normal start time.

Following classes will not be scheduled for a Final Assessment:

  • 1 hour or less per week classes

  • Non-enrollment (multiple component) classes (ex. class sections in the 50s or 60s)

  • Accelerated classes (classes that do not meet regularly for the entire semester)

  • Performance classes (classes in theater arts, film, music, athletics or activity classes)

  • Lab classes

  • Independent Study classes (ex. any course number ending in 97)

Check with the instructor if a Final Assessment is needed for the following classes. If yes, see Final Assessment week schedule above:

  • Graduate classes (ex. any course number 500 or higher)

  • Hybrid classes (ex. class sections in the 80s)*

  • Saturday and Sunday classes*

  • 50 minute multiple days per week classes (ex. MWF)*

* Instructor will be notified with rescheduled day/time by 2nd Friday of the semester

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Classes should be distributed evenly throughout all the days of the week and throughout the listed times above, in order to maximize campus space utilization and class offerings.
  • Labs should be scheduled to start on the hour.
  • Classes should not use non-standard time-blocks unless approved by their College Dean. Dean’s approval is required to use Monday College Hours.
  • One day per week classes should be scheduled with matching pairs MW or TR (i.e., a Monday 4:00 PM - 6:50 PM course should be complemented by a Wednesday 4:00 PM - 6:50 PM course).
  • For class sessions lasting longer than 75 minutes, break time has been included in the class time block to be used at the faculty's discretion. (See asterisked break time key above.)

Courses at Cal State Monterey Bay are offered in several formats to support student needs and learning preferences. Each format clearly defines how and when instruction takes place.

Face-to-Face (In Person)

100% in person instruction with live instructors and students meeting together on campus throughout the term.

Synchronous Virtual Instruction

Live online instruction delivered via web conferencing at scheduled days and times (weekly or bi-weekly). No in person meetings.

Asynchronous Virtual Instruction

Fully online instruction available 24/7 with no scheduled class meetings or in person sessions.

Synchronous + Asynchronous Virtual Instruction

A hybrid mix of live (scheduled) and self-paced (24/7) online instruction. No in person class meetings.

Face-to-Face + Synchronous Virtual Instruction

A hybrid combination of in person and live online instruction. Both components must meet weekly or bi-weekly at scheduled days and times.

Face-to-Face + Asynchronous Virtual Instruction

A hybrid mix of in person meetings and self-paced online instruction. The in person component must meet weekly or bi-weekly at scheduled times.
