CSUMB Celebrates 23rd Commencement With Record Number of Graduates
SEASIDE, Calif., May 18, 2019 – With a record number 2,348 candidates for graduation, CSUMB held its 23rd annual commencement celebration beginning on Friday, May 17, 2019 with the first of three ceremonies spread out over two days.
SEASIDE, Calif., May 18, 2019 – With a record number 2,348 candidates for graduation, CSUMB held its 23rd annual commencement celebration beginning on Friday, May 17, 2019 with the first of three ceremonies spread out over two days.
The College of Education and the College of Science graduated Friday, while the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Business and College of Health Sciences and Human Services graduated Saturday.
Founder, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Taylor Fresh Foods and Taylor Farms California, Bruce Taylor, provided the keynote address for graduates on Friday, May 17 and was also awarded an honorary doctorate degree in science. In his keynote address, Taylor thanked the graduates for their commitment to earning a college degree.

CSUMB President Eduardo M. Ochoa recognized Bruce Taylor for the direct impact he has had on CSUMB students through scholarship programs and partnerships with the university.
“Mr. Taylor is a great businessman and leader, he is also a great role model for our university, our community, and the Monterey County region. He is responsible for the success of many of our students at CSUMB through his company’s scholarship program and partnerships with the university,” said CSUMB President Ochoa. “He is an excellent role model for our community to follow in stewardship, community service, and in life.”
