Summer Housing
Summer housing is available for students enrolled in summer coursework, offering a range of flexible options to meet their unique needs. We understand that each student's situation is different, and we aim to make your summer experience as comfortable and convenient as possible. Explore the various housing choices available to ensure that your stay during the summer session is enjoyable and conducive to your academic pursuits.
Apply for Summer Housing
To apply for Summer Housing, fill out the application on your MyHousing Dashboard. Summer housing may be limited; as such, students enrolled in summer coursework will have priority for summer housing.

Summer Housing Requirements
In order to qualify for on-campus housing during the summer, the resident must:
- Be enrolled at CSUMB for a summer academic session; or
- Be enrolled at CSUMB for the upcoming Fall semester (Incoming Fall admits are not eligible for Summer Housing)
Certain services will either have limited hours, or will not be available during summer break. This includes, but is not limited to dining services, library access, as well as a limited bus schedule. Summer Housing Options
Summer housing will be available in Promontory Apartments and East Campus. Please see below for information and guidelines. *East Campus is only available for residents who currently live in East Campus AND request the same space during Reservation Days.
Summer Housing Rates for 2023
Summer Housing rates are based on room type and duration of stay. Assignments will be made based on availability. We cannot guarantee that a preferred room type and rate will be available.
Main Campus Rates - Promontory
*These sessions require residents to be available to transition from Spring 2023 assignment to Summer assignment on May 22-24, 2024. No exceptions or alternate dates will be available. If you are unable to transition on these dates, you will be required to check out for Spring and return back on May 31, 2024 to check in.
**These sessions require residents to be available to transition from Summer assignment to Fall assignment on July 30 to August 1, 2024. No exceptions or alternate dates will be available.If you are unable to transition in August, you will be required to check out on July 29, 2024 and return back to check in for Fall on your designated check-in date.
Please note the following:
- All Summer Housing Sessions are calculated based on the number of nights in a session times the daily rate. Total session amounts have been rounded to the nearest dollar.
- All Summer housing residents will be billed summer rates during summer sessions, regardless of current move-over status.
- Residents approved for summer housing will be able to transition directly from their Spring assignment to their Summer assignment, and will be required to do so on May 22-24, 2024.
- Transitions from summer assignments to Fall assignments for sessions ending July 29 will occur from July 30 - August 1, 2024.
East Campus Monthly Rates
Assignment Information
Assignments will be made on a rolling basis once students are approved for housing. For main campus residents, students will be assigned upon check-in, similarly to booking a hotel stay. East Campus residents will remain in their Spring assignment if they will continue to live in that space for the upcoming academic year. If you are an East Campus resident and choosing a different space for the upcoming academic year, you will be assigned a space on main campus for summer housing.
Residents approved to reside in East Campus units during the summer will continue to pay the Spring 2024 monthly rate through July 31, 2024. Summer residents that will continue to reside in their current space for Fall will have their Fall housing rate start on August 1, 2024.
Housing costs for Main Campus residents will be due within 2 weeks of the start of the housing term. Please be aware that housing charges will not appear on your account until after your official check-in and you have been assigned a space. Rent for East Campus residents will be due the 1st of every month, with a 10 day grace period. Please note late fees will be assessed for all fees paid after the 10th of the month.
Housing Accommodations Requests

Mail and Packages
Main Campus Summer Housing residents will receive mail and packages at the Promontory office in building B of Promontory. East Campus Summer Housing residents will receive mail and packages at their East Campus assignment. Addresses will be provided within your assignment letter.
Frequently Asked Questions
At this time, we are asking all residents who are not eligible for summer housing to prepare to check out at the end of the academic year license agreement. If you will not be applying for summer housing and are seeking an extension or delayed departure from the check out deadline, please email us with your request for review. Extensions will not be available for students currently living in Promontory A in order to prepare for summer housing.
You will continue to pay your academic year monthly rate for your East Campus unit for summer through July 31, 2024. If you are continuing to live on campus for Fall, your Fall housing rate will begin August 1, 2024.
We encourage you to communicate with your supporters about the upcoming summer months to proactively plan for move out on May 20, 2024. If you need additional resources or assistance, you can find resource information through CSUMB Basic Needs. Our transition to summer housing will occur from July 30 - August 1, 2024. All summer residents need to plan to be available during this weekend in order to transition to fall housing. Inability to move during this weekend may result in additional fees due to delay in work, and double occupancy of spaces.
Summer housing assignments will be made on a rolling basis once students are approved for housing. Once you complete all requirements for your summer application, more communication will follow. Our Assignment Specialists will continue to do their best in accommodating a smooth transition but it is not guaranteed your fall assignment will be vacant and prepared by the start of summer housing.
