D.J. Jackson is an artist based in the Monterey Bay area. His art focuses on marine biology, ecology and conservation, but he applies his skills to a plethora of different scientific as well as non-scientific fields. He is originally from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, studied visual art at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL, science illustration at CSUMB and interned for The University of Queensland’ School of Biological Sciences in Brisbane, Australia. His clients range from research facilities on the Great Barrier Reef, to shark researchers in Moss Landing and he has been featured on Sylvia Earle’s Conservation website, Mission Blue. In his spare time he is rock climbing, biking and slacklining, anything to become fully immersed in nature.
