FAQs for Monterey County Employees

Who can attend?

The CSUMB Supervisory Certificate Program is offered to community participants and any County employee who is currently a manager, supervisor or employee aspiring to become a supervisor.

Do I need to request approval to take the courses?

Courses are currently offered all day (9am – 5pm) on Fridays. County employees should obtain their supervisor’s permission to attend one or more of the courses before registering.

How can I register and pay?

Since this is an external organization’s course and is not managed by Monterey County, registration and payment are through CSUMB, Extended Education at EERegister.csumb.edu.

With approval, the program would be paid for by the employee’s department’s budget. Credit card payments are accepted for online registrations.

What happens if I have to miss a class?

If County employees cannot attend one or more of the six classes that are part of the Certificate, this missed class can be taken during the next series. The 10% discount will be honored regardless of when the class is made up.

What type of credit can I earn?

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) are offered for people who complete classes singly (0.7 CEU’s per class) or as a Certificate (4.0 CEU’s). These classes are not eligible for academic University credit at this time.

Are there other courses available?

The Learning and Organizational Development Unit’s goal is to partner with CSUMB to offer additional tailored series for County employees. Watch for future messages regarding additional courses.
