CSUMB goes to church for Black History Month! CSUMB community members will be visiting First Baptist Church of Pacific Grove which is the oldest Historically Black Church (HBC) on the Monterey Peninsula having just celebrated 110 years! The address is 246 Laurel Ave, Pacific Grove. This date is also the church's monthly fellowship lunch so they will need a count of CSUMB community members attending. Diversity Celebration Series - African American History Month
The Drifters music served to link Fifties rhythm & blues with Sixties soul music. They took the ardent fervor of their gospel days and channeled it into soulful R&B arrangements about typical lives, elevating the everyday to a state of sanctity.
This annual event is being hosted by Black Students United. It is the annual Black History Month meeting of the Monterey County Branch NAACP. The event will feature a presentation of African American Civil Rights and Ally Awards to community and CSUMB activist and a formal welcome to the new CSUMB African American Staff and Faculty employees.
