Eligibility for a Financial Aid waiver is determined at the time of enrolling in Early Start. To qualify, you must have an official EFC between 0 - 5,000. If you feel this is a mistake, please contact the Financial Aid Office at (831) 582-5100.

Math workshop FAQs

All students

What should I bring to the workshop?

All workshop handouts will be provided. We do ask that you supply your own writing utensils and you may want to bring a notebook to keep your notes organized.

Do all students have housing for the duration of the workshop?

No.

CSUMB will not provide any housing arrangements for the Early Start Workshop during July.

In order to be eligible for early arrival housing for the August 15-August 19 Early Start Workshop, students must apply and be assigned to an on-campus housing assignment for Fall 2017 by the Office of Student Housing & Residential Life. To apply for housing please contact the Officeof Student Housing & Residential Life.

I'm on the waitlist, will I have housing for the August workshop?

Only students with confirmed on-campus Fall 2017 housing assignments will be provided with on-campus housing accommodations. Students who are placed on the wait list, are responsible for finding alternative off-campus housing arrangements for the duration of the workshop.

Is a parking permit required to park on campus during the workshop?

Yes, all vehicles parked on campus are required to display a current parking permit. Daily permits can be purchased from vending stations located in the parking lot. Weekly or semester permits can be purchased from the Campus Service Center, Bldg. 47.

CSUMB admits only

When will I find out if I passed the workshop?

We notify students after all the assessments have been graded. We try to have all our notifications sent by Sunday afternoon or evening; in extreme cases, students will be notified on Monday. Notifications are sent to students' CSUMB e-mail accounts.

If I don't pass the workshop, what should I do?

If you do not pass the workshop, you will attend your Math 98 or 99 course for the semester.

Can I take the assessment without taking the workshop?

In order to be eligible to take the assessment on Saturday, you must attend the workshop in its entirety. Students are not allowed to miss any portions of the workshop.

Housing questions

When will students with Fall 2017 Housing Assignments be moving in?

Students who have registered for the workshop who have been assigned to a residence hall will be moving in on Monday, August 14. If you have not registered for the workshop, you will not be able to move in.

How will I receive more information regarding Early Move In?

Students who will be participating in the workshop and have confirmed housing assignments will be e-mailed move-in information to their CSUMB e-mail accounts.

Will I be moving into my Fall 2016 Housing Assignment?

We expect that the majority of students will be moving into their Fall 2017 Housing Assignment. However, there is a possibility that students may be placed in a temporary assignment as final preparations are made to their official assignment.
