Ethnic Studies Research Paper Award Winners
The CSUMB Library is pleased to announce the winner of our Ethnic Studies Research Paper Award. Mary Cabriales, a Human Communication major graduating in December, has won the award for her paper “Mass Incarceration and the Racial Profiling of Minorities in America.” Mary wrote the winning paper for HCOM 309: Interracial Communication (4 units). She identifies as an intersectional feminist and her dream job is to work in international aid.
An honorable mention goes to Olivia Basso for her paper “Racial Boundaries to Class Mobility in American Immigration Narratives.” Olivia is also a Human Communication major and will graduate with honors this month. She wrote this paper for a class on American immigration narratives.
Both Mary and Olivia will be recognized at Honors Convocation and their papers will soon be published in the Digital Commons.
