During the summers of 2013 and 2014, I conducted in-field research in Bilbao, capital of the province of Biscay in the autonomous community of the Basque Country of Northern Spain. My research involves the non-universality of identity; the contributing internal and external influences. I am exploring the ways in which Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) individuals’ self-identity, through language, behavior, attire, as well as how they affect or are affected by social and civil rights movements.

This summer, I will be attending an ethnographic field school in Chiapas Mexico under the Undocumented Migration Project.

I am interested in geopolitical analysis and the geopolitics of energy security. A graduating senior in Global Studies at CSUMB, I am the vice president of Sigma Iota Rho, an honors organization focused on world affairs. My plans after graduation are still taking shape and may include a job in the technology sector, or foreign service. I am also contemplating graduate school.
