Pat has spent a lifetime sharing her love of the ocean: holding birthday parties at the tidepools, leading tours of elephant seals at Ano Nuevo, and painting a mural of intertidal life as a student at UC Santa Cruz. She has led school programs, teacher institutes and day camps at Coyote Point Environmental Education Museum, San Mateo County Office of Education, and Monterey Bay Aquarium. After 14 years as Education Director at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, she is thrilled to return to Camp SEA Lab, having piloted the first week of camp back in 2000 with Rachel Saunders. Pat brings her knowledge of marine biology and science education gathered from two summers spent at marine labs, a bachelor's degree in Biology from UC Santa Cruz, and a doctorate in Science Education from UC Berkeley.
In the local scene, she has run a Girl Scout troop; served on the boards of Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History, Pacific Grove Library and the Gathering for Women--Monterey; and appeared with Monterey ImProv. Pat spends her free time searching the hills for wildflowers and mushrooms, boogie-boarding and starting to do stand-up paddleboarding, and dabbling in poetry.
