Geographic Information Systems

A geographic information system (GIS) lets us visualize, question, analyze, and interpret data to understand relationships, patterns, and trends. It is a software which links geographic information (where things are) with descriptive information (what things are).

GIS is the technology of our times and is uniquely suited to assist in solving the problems that we face.
—Roger Tomlinson
