In addition to the list at left, the Dean's Office is proud to present the CAHSS Spotlight on Student Success Series: Highlighting high-impact practices and innovations in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
Speakers for these events have included Viet Than Nguyen, Zeynep Tufekci, Carrie Mae Weems, and Rafa Esparza. CAHSS delivers intellectually and creatively stimulating programming and co-created projects with the community. We are a community of educators and students and we bring guest artists and speakers to the region regularly. This project will enhance our ability to create reliable annual programming to share with the wider Monterey County community. The Dia de Los Muertos ceremony and the sugar skull workshop class is important in that it has become a legacy for the Visual & Public Art Department that we share with everyone across campus and in our community. Through the class and the workshops and the building of the altar, we reminisce about family and friends who have passed on, it's a time of celebration of their lives. It's so amazing to see people from different ethnicities come together to celebrate, sharing knowledge and learning about our tradition as we come together to have a great time.— Hector Dionicio "Dio" Mendoza
