What if I didn't meet my Math or English Remediation?

Three options for return in the next academic year:

To request to return for Spring 2018:

Submit a written request and proof of enrollment in the required course(s) to the Center for Advising, Career and Student Success no later than September 1, 2017. Official transcripts/grade reports showing successful completion (C or better grade) must be received no later than December 15, 2017.

To maintain your Fall 2017 enrollment:

You must be in good academic standing and complete your course(s) in Summer 2017, either at CSUMB or at the community college. Your request must be received no later than June 15, 2017 and should include proof of enrollment in the required course(s). Official transcripts/grade reports showing successful completion (C or better grade) must be received no later than August 10, 2017 or your Fall 2017 enrollment will be canceled.

Option to complete English Remediation over summer at CSUMB:

WRT (Writing) has become CAD (Communication Across the Disciplines). You have the option to enroll in CAD 100A: Oral and Written Communication Semester 1 (4 units) offered June 5-July 28, 2017. Not only will CAD 100A: Oral and Written Communication Semester 1 (4 units) meet your remediation requirement, but it will earn you four units of college credit and begin a two-semester General Education Area A1 requirement. Contact Nelson Graff, Director of Communication Across the Disciplines, at ngraff@csumb.edu for more information.

What should be included in my written request?

  • Your name and student ID number (eg. 000123456)
  • The semester you plan to return
  • Name of college / university where you plan to take the course
  • Course name and number (i.e. Math 203 Intermediate Algebra)
