The M.A. in Education program empowers educators who bring a credential in general education classrooms from preschool through higher education to enrich their careers with the knowledge and skills to become instructional and curriculum leaders.

Our program’s convenience and flexibility will allow you to accommodate your work schedule through online course options, as well as choose between a one- or two-year pathway for program completion depending on what pace works best for you.
Our electives and options for thesis or comprehensive exam means you’ll be able to customize the curriculum in a way that best aligns with your goals and interests, and complete the program in a way that fits with your distinctive strengths.
Our emphasis on leadership skills will not only prepare you for a career as a leader in instruction and curriculum, it will also qualify you to serve as a mentor for current and future educators, using your knowledge and skills to equip them to improve their teaching abilities at the college level.

Students who choose to do a thesis to complete the program often focus on educational issues that take advantage of our coastal environment, including areas like environmental education and marine science education. You may also focus on these types of educational areas as a research assistant collaborating with faculty on projects that center on CSUMB’s geographic region.

CSUMB’s Reading Center opened in 2007 and has served thousands of students.
In the free adult language clinic, students in the Speech-Language Pathology Master’s Degree program work with clients who have communication difficulties.
