Our centers and institutes compliment the academic programs of the university, as well as serve the local community.
The Service Learning Institute fosters and promotes social justice by connecting students, faculty, staff and the surrounding tri-county community.
A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 1997 by Leon and Sylvia Panetta, the Panetta Institute serves the entire California State University system plus several other schools. Under the direction of Secretary and Mrs. Panetta, the Institute provides a variety of study opportunities in government, politics and public policy, and sponsors a range of other programs.
The Small Business Development Center was established to meet the specialized needs of the small business community of business owners throughout Monterey and San Benito Counties. We provide high quality education, consulting, support for innovation, access to information and tools necessary to build successful sustainable businesses.
The iiED develops the knowledge, expertise and financial resources needed to create and support a vibrant entrepreneurial community and successful, growing businesses and social ventures in the Tri-county region.
IfAME develops clear linkages between ecological phenomena and management regimes along the California coast, across the US, and throughout the world. Using cutting-edge technology, the goal of the IfAME is to provide insight, to reorganize thinking, and to improve paradigms for understanding the interaction of marine ecological systems and human activities.
The Watershed Institute consists of a direct action, community-based coalition of researchers, restoration ecologists, educators, planners, students, and volunteers. These participants all work to promote and employ a systems approach to the management of watersheds around the world.
The Institute for Community Collaborative Studies (ICCS) conducts community research, and designs innovative program practices and community initiatives that facilitates the development of collaborative partnerships to improve health, human services and public policy initiatives especially for children, families and communities in the Monterey Bay, California and across the United States.
The Reading Center provides service to the local community through a range of diagnostic & tutorial services related to reading. It also links with schools and community based organizations to support ongoing literacy efforts. Training & consultation services are also provided to organizations that are engaged in the promotion of literacy.
