Link Request
Quicklinks Definition/Requirements
Quicklinks provide shortcuts from one webpage to others that cannot be
reached from the current page in one or two clicks using the other navigation
available on the page.
Quicklinks appear below the wave at the top left of most pages that use
the primary CSUMB.EDU design template. Each page may have a unique set
of Quicklinks appropriate to the needs of typical users of that page.
The page publishers determine the Quicklinks for each page. Because a
Quicklinks list should be kept as short as possible in order to maximize
functional value, not every Quicklink request will be granted.
Anyone can submit a Quicklink request. To be considered, the request
must:
- Indicate the web address of the page where you want a Quicklink to
be added. (Note: You must submit a separate request for each page where
you want a Quicklink to be added.
- Indicate a page to link to that meets minimum
standards for CSUMB.EDU pages regarding logo, editorial quality,
and contact information.
- Include a rationale for the link grounded in the needs and practices
of users of that specific page.
If your request does not meet these standards, M&P
will notify you as to why. If approved for consideration, the page publishers
will notify you as to whether or not your Quicklink has been added. Quicklinks
have no time limit, but may be removed at any time by page publishers
due to the addition of other Quicklinks deemed more important to page
users. Page publishers may also evaluate Quicklinks based on user metrics,
and may remove them if metrics don't indicate that page visitors use them
regularly. When page publishers remove Quicklinks, they don't notify the
original requestor.
