The Open Source Days of Dialogue is an opportunity for CSU CIOs, technical staff and other stakeholders to discuss the potential role, opportunities, benefits and risks of Open Source Software within the California State University System. Please join us on February 9-10 at CSU Monterey Bay (Seaside, CA) for this important event.
Expect to discuss and learn about CSU’s use of open source licensing, software development, and software applications with your colleagues.
At the completion of this event, participants can expect to engage in a discussion about:
- What open software is and how it differs from proprietary software;
- Why open source software is becoming more visible and valued in higher education
- Which external and internal open software products and communities might benefit CSU campuses
- How to assess and evaluate open source software
- How development, support and licensing issues may differ with open source software
- What opportunities exist for collaboration, participation and influence in open software communities and across the CSU.
The event is limited to 150 participants. The OSS Day of Dialogue is sponsored by the Information Technology Services / Chancellor’s Office. Each campus participant is responsible for travel and lodging costs. If you are interested in sharing your experiences in developing, adopting or deploying Open Source products, we would welcome your contributions as part of the program. (Please register or let Pam McQuesten know of your interest through email, pmcquesten@calstate.edu or by phone 562-951-4315.)
Information about registration, hotel accommodations and a more detailed program description will be available in early January. Until then, save the dates, Feb. 9-10, share this with your colleagues, and let us know if you want to be part of the program.
