Frequently Asked Questions
Important Things to Know
  • OtterID
Your OtterID is your most often-used ID on campus.

Your OtterID is the first four letters of your last name, plus four randomly-selected numbers.

Find your Otter ID: If you need to find your OtterID, use id.csumb.edu! Just enter your first name, last name, and date of birth on the right-hand side of the screen to find your ID.

Your password: When you first get your OtterID, your default password is your date of birth in the format of the capitalized month, followed by the two-digit day and four-digit year. For example, if your birthdate was July 9, 1980 your password would be July091980.

  • There may be changes to the schedule up to the first week of class. For the most current schedule of courses, please check the online course schedules for Extended Education or Open University.

  • Any changes to your schedule must be student-initiated. Instructors are not permitted to drop you for nonattendance. To make changes to your schedule, submit an add/drop form at the Campus Service Center, Building 47. It is your responsibility to verify the accuracy of your schedule and to retain copies of the transaction.

  • After the first day of class, the instructor’s signature is needed to add a class. Courses that are canceled are automatically dropped from your schedule and a refund is processed.
